My Story
Purchasing or selling a home in any state can be quite stressful with many opportunities to make mistakes. After living in Florida for many years (and a stint living in Tennessee for two years during Covid), my husband and I decided that North Carolina would be our home.
As a licensed real estate broker in Florida for 7 or 8 years at the time, we decided to utilize the services of a local NC realtor to assist us on our journey to purchase our forever home. Despite my real estate knowledge and experience at the time, there were specific and unique things about purchasing in NC that made the buying process challenging.
The concept of due diligence fees and the lack of financial contingencies, to name a few, were a part of the contract fabric in NC and foreign to most who either have never purchased real estate in NC or was a first-time homebuyer.
Navigating the process of buying a home in any State is challenging, but I have found that not completely reading and understanding your real estate contract can present some negative financial consequences for both buyers and sellers.
I'm Claire Jackson, a licensed real estate broker here in Chapel Hill, NC and broker-owner of CLEAR Real Estate. I assist my clients with purchasing or selling a home in The Triangle and take pride in doing the right thing always for my clients.
I created this blog to educate anyone who is considering purchasing or selling a property in NC about the most common real estate contract form in North Carolina, the Offer to Purchase and Contract, also know as Form No. 2-T. This contract form is utilized by realtors all over North Carolina and is approved by the North Carolina Bar Association and the NC Realtors organization.
